This was the novel I didn’t know I needed. <3
Start date: 14 August
End date: 15 August
Total reading time: 1 hour 41 minutes (in 2 days)
Initial impressions:
An intriguing voice and style – it took me a few pages to unravel what was going on, but once I got there, I was hooked.
What I liked:
- This is postmodernism done to my liking
- All the characters were wonderful
- The voice! All the voices!
- Part 2 was tremendous!
- The tale seems small, but it’s so immense in its exploration of environmentalism, identity, community, the imagination, family, and so on!
What I disliked:
- Surprising nothing!
Overall:
To put it simply: I loved this book. It’s not something I’d generally go for, but this little novel is perfection. I want to re-read it and teach and and drink it all up, over and over again.
